Top of page, in dark ink by a 18th or 19th c. hand: 1734 års Kat. Theol. in folio No 43; further down, by the same hand: Missale Olomucense (these words have also been written in pencil above the words in ink).

Post-medieval binding, possibly 16th or 17th century. Redish-brown leather over wooden boards. The boards have beveled edges. 5 pairs of raised bands and endbands Metal catch plates on and one remaining piece of plate on . , blind stamped: Missale olomucensis . , stamped in gold: A 177.

Elaborate tooling in the shape of frames filled with geometric and foliate ornaments. The tooling seems to have been gilded, but only traces remain. A medalion in the middle of , but the motif is no longer visible. On the frames also contain small medalions with human faces.

 Leather covering worn and damaged. Clasps missing. Leather on parts of the cover and spine renovated with new leather. Old library signa removed from spine and attached to .

Bohemia Olomouc , 15th century. The presense of the patron saints of Olomouc together with the glossing in Czech indicates Olomouc as the place of origin.

The manuscript was most likely taken from Olomouc and brought to Sweden as spoils of war during the Thirty Years’ War. It is believed to be the manuscript listed as Missale Charta in Vossius’s catalogue of 1651 (U 202:1, p. 68). On there are three notes glued to the margin. These were orginally attached to the spine. Two of these notes contain signa, the first that of Hammarsköld's catalogue from the 19th century (U 133): e. 30. 5. 2.; the second the signum from the catalogue of 1734 (U 125e): 43? Missale (listed in the catalogue as Theol. in fol. 43). The only signum on the is the current signum A 177.

Paper Bull's head, above single line rod ending in flower. Rod with trefoil, part of larger motif. Unidentified motif. The ink on the leaves is very dark and dense, which makes the watermarks difficult to identify. The bull's head is most clearly visible. The second watermark is quite large but thus far completely unidentifiable. The third watermark is a large complex shape, with the only identifiable feature being a rod with a trefoil on top.

The paper is dirty and stained, possibly mouldy. Outer margins trimmed with loss of text in the marginal additions. The textblock has been repaired with paper strips in the inner margin and on all four margins; a hole caused by fire damage on has been repaired with paper on with some loss of text. Guidelines and ruling in dark ink. Gothic cursive.

Top margin, in brown ink by a modern hand: Missale. Outer margin: 3 stickers with old library signa glued to the page. These have probably been removed from the spine. The stickers read (from top to bottom): Missa- ; e 50. 5. 2.; 43 ? Missale.

Sporadic additions in the margins in dark ink by one or more medieval hands. The additions range from single words to short phrases and seem to be both in Latin and Old Czech (for the latter see e.g. bottom margin on : blahoslavení).
