The manuscript exhibits at least three types of contemporary quire signatures, the first two of which make up two separate number series, and the third of which is superimposed on the previous two, revealing that the different units of the manuscript were collected and bound together already in the middle ages. Unit 1 covers quires 1-4, with the signatures each rendered in a slightly different way. (The last leaf – and hence the quire signature – of quire 1 is missing; quire 2, is marked with an abbreviated secundus inside a square frame in red ink (); quire 3 is marked with tertius written out (), and quire 4 with iiiius written on the first folio of the quire (), and possibly also on its last folio (). The hands of at least quire 3 and 4 appear to be different.) Unit 2 comprises quires 5-8: the first layer of quire signatures consists of Roman ordinal numerals, Ius to IIIIus , in red ink ( (partially erased), , , ), which reveals that these quires once made up a separate unit. To these signatures a second, contemporary hand has added a v in brown ink in front of the original number, so that the original I has become VI etc. (IIIIus is crossed out and IXus added instead). Together with the fact that the last text of Unit 1 is incomplete, this indicates that the last quire of Unit 1 is missing. Quire 9, beginning Unit 3, has only the number XI in the same hand as the second layer of 5-8 (). A quire bearing the number X is thus missing, indicating that another full quire has been lost here. The texts which bracket this missing quire are, however, complete.

Leather worn, the top half of especially. One clasp missing and half of the second clasp. The leather straps are dry and stiff.

Uppsala 14th century, second half. The script used in the first two codicological units, cursiva antiquior, is mainly seen in Austria, Bohemia, Germany and Scandinavia. It does not occur before the second quarter of the 14th century and few examples exist after the beginning of the 15th century ( Derolez (2006) ). The mix of double- and single-compartment a seen in the last part of the manuscript identifies this as a late variant of the script. The colophon on gives the year for the completion of this section, and Brocman, in a note on , dates the manuscript to based on the type of paper. Brocman's identification of the contents of as explanations of difficult words in the Breviarium Upsalense would seem to indicate Uppsala as the origin.

Previously no. 195 in the collection of Nils Reinhold Brocman, book collector and librarian at the Royal Library and Antiquities Archive. Upon his death in , a large part of his book collection was donated to the Antiquities Archive.
