Denmark 14th century, last quarter, or 15th century, first quarter

The manuscript belonged the library of Stephanus Johannis Stephanius (1599-1650), see Jørgensen (1909–1911) and Jørgensen (1917) . From there it was sold to Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie (remains of his seal is found on ) and from him to Uppsala University Library. In the manuscript was transferred to the College of Antiquities (later the Antiquities Archive), see Annerstedt (1894) Appendix 6:1 .

Current signum, A 39, first established in Helin’s catalogue from the 1720s (U 91:2:2).

An addition by the scribe:

Istud salve subscriptum stare debet in tercio folio precedenti ad tale signum quod sequitur and six lines of verse, these are linked with a signe-de-renvoi to where in fine stat has also been written in the margin.

According to Kabell (1967) one bifolium of the manuscript is probably missing since the original number of the double strophes should be 150.

loose leaf, almost detached. Circa 80% of the page cut out. Words or parts of words from 10 lines are visible on 4r, on 4v only two words. and dirty and with holes in the page. Sewing loose in both quires. Gothic cursive.

Top of page, in brown ink (with capitals touched in red) by a medieval hand: Incipit recommendacio paruula siue salutacio beate marie genitricis dei omnipotentis et virginis gloriose; below the title a contemporary hand has written: probacio penne; bottom page, by the same hand that wrote the title: Per quendam scolarem de regno dacie; below, a pen-trial in faded brown ink.

The entire page is covered by a double frame containing an x-shape drawn in darkbrown ink. In the upper part of the frame, the scribe or a contemporary hand has written: Salue sancta ? et omni cause Below the lower part of the frame: sic deformetur per furtum ne rapiatur folium hoc

A similar frame to that on filled with pen-trials (of which some are words and others just letters). Above the frame two lines have been written, but the text is too faded and damaged to make out.
